Hospital doors

Modern hospitals and health centres have to comply with strict legislation and endure heavy usage with the minimum of maintenance.
Hospital doorsHospital doors, for example, are exposed to heavy duty use in many situations. Different parts of the hospital have different requirements:  from radiation doors in x-ray to hygiene doors in emergency. It is important the right requirements are met in the right areas to ensure the safety of staff , patients and visitors.
Carefully designed door applications must provide isolation of critically ill patients keeping visitors and staff safe from infections.
Another important element is that doors can improve entryway appearance and accessibility.
For this purpose  Rototraslating doors, with sliding-swinging mouvement, are preferred throughout the healthcare facilities. Rototraslating doors in fact are perfect for patients confined to wheelchairs, for staff moving patients around on gurneys, and movement of hospital equipment.

Nat fine food: “Nature is coming to town”

Lately biological and organic food is fashionable.
This trend has been seized on in Germany, where a chain of restaurants and takeaways in Hamburg has been created, which serves only organic and biological food. The restaurant interior decor is characterized by a light and contemporary design: the design concept of Nat fine food sees the environment as an urban oasis.
Light colors: white for furniture, brown for oak floors, dark gray for  columns and walls, in contrast to green coatings. Materials are tactile and curved surfaces. Light is both natural,  with windows looking out onto the street, and artificial, with LEDs arranged at the base of conversation islands floating in the light.
Open-plan kitchen with counters on the walls and wooden stools, two rows of benches with a table in the style of American diners.
The bar of the lounge area is near the cash, where the dining area ends and begins this journey in a really nice restaurant for a design to imitate everywhere!

How to renovate a hotel

Laws and decrees impose hotels and restaurants on renovating plants, security exits, stairs, devices. The only thing to avoid is do-it-yourself practice and offers from trendy designers and architects, that usually propose amazing projects but very expensive and not so functional. It’s better then to consider offers from hospitality interior design experts and agencies, surely more cheaper. Hotel interior design
In the renovation of a hotel it’s very important to define some details: the type of hotel , its target and the budget of the clientèle, since from these details, it’s possible to get a more precise idea of what  kind of renovation has to be done.
Secondly it’s important to define the services to be offered inside the hotel; last but not least, the look of the hotel: will it be classic or modern?
Once the team or the commercial design build company has been chosen, the hotel owner must cooperate with designers. Designers too must be carefully  informed about the functionalities of the different areas and on the intrinsic purpose of the renovation.

Hotel interior design: hotel lighting

Compared to a house, lighting places whose aim is to temporarily receive guests, such as hotels, spa, tourist centers, has several peculiarities. First of all we should think about the psychological impact of artificial light compared to natural light on people.
In a hotel during the day people are attracted by the interior design, by furnishings, shapes and colors. But at night the hotel has a second dimension, since the guest needs to stay in a safe, comfortable and protected atmosphere , but even relaxing, clean and efficient. It’s clear that only artificial lighting can satisfy this mix of needs since it’s part of the hotel decorHotel interior design.

So the first thing to do is assure the highest comfort both to guests and to the staff.
The hotel in fact is a place of work and as such it has to lighted, even if the lighting elements which assure a good view to the staff have to harmonize with the characteristics of a pleasant lighting for the hotel guests and have to be able to adequately vaporize the different areas.
A reception for example is a place that has to immediately draw the attention of the guest, as soon as he enter the hotel. Its lighting has to be at the same time attractive and impressive , with decorative elements that communicate the quality level of the services at disposal of the guest.
It’s fundamental to have a good lighting of vertical surfaces and to limit horizontal lighting of working surfaces, in particular those of the reception. On the wall behind the concierge there should be much light since this is an element which draw the attention of the customer.
So it’s clear  that quantity, quality and distribution of light have to satisfy several needs and two different subjects: working people and guests.

Being an interior designer

Hotel interior design

The idea of interior designer as a job was born in France with Ch.Percier and P.Fontaine, great interior decorators of Napoleon’s several houses. At that time the role of this professional consisted of adapting buildings of the Ancient Regime to the needs of a new era through a new language, the Imperial style. Their work was then collected in a collection which allowed other cultures to know this style. That’s how the professional of interior designer was definitely created.

The decorating activity gives great importance to proportions which enter to play between space and object, and importance to relationships among objects themselves. We could say that interior design acts through clear and touchable signs and linguistic codes which draw on a plurality of experiences.

This is true not only for what concerns houses but also commercial spaces, and in particular for hotel interior design.
